Take care of all aspects of Scholastic Book orders for the three classes, and coordinates the annual book fair.
Responsible for maintaining the bulletin board in the hallway outside the classroom and updating it as needed with current news/events/themes and art work.
Help Teacher Anne hang/change artwork in classroom.
Keep track of classroom supplies (cups, napkins, paper towels, etc) and buy items as needed or requested.
Store items properly and dispose of boxes.
Must be a regular Costco shopper.
Cabinet / Cubby Area Organizer
Maintain classroom snack cabinet on a regular basis.
Keep the cubby area tidy, including placing art in children’s cubbies.
Health and Safety
Attend the workshop at Bates, collect immunization and emergency consent forms and make sure they are complete
Conduct classroom safety inspections
Notify co-op members of infectious disease exposure (e.g. chicken pox, lice, etc)
Maintain the first aid and earthquake kits.
Equipment Repair / Maintenance
Use own tools to repair broken play equipment, maintain classroom/playground and build items as requested by the board.
Check equipment in the Big Muscle Room monthly.
Rake bark on playground and add new bark/sand as needed.
Clean carpets once a year before school starts.
Curriculum Enrichment /Librarian
Work with the teacher to complement the writing center and woodworking bench.
Replenish old markers/glue sticks, etc. Purchase new items for reimbursement or restock from classroom stores.
Organize books in the preschool’s parent education library, children’s books and videos.
Check out library books to complement monthly themes.
Water, weed and maintain garden
Purchasing and organizing materials as needed
Work with teacher to plan projects in coordination with curriculum and assists with in-class gardening projects.
Housekeeping-Monthly Cleanup (two people)
Obtain monthly clean-up session parent schedule from the Committees Chair. Each person should attend and lead half of clean-up sessions. Ensure parents who attend each session sign in.
Provide list of parents that attended to the Committees Chair after each clean-up session to facilitate the return of cleaning deposit checks.
Laundry / Mending
Wash towels and rags weekly.
Periodically wash paint and parent aprons.
Mend and wash dress-up items and doll clothes as needed.
Paper Cut Outs/Nametags
Check with the teacher each month for direction on what shape/color she wants for the felt nametags for the kids in each of the three classes. Cut out the nametags as directed by the teacher and provide them to her in time for her to complete adding the names prior to the start of each month.
Check in regularly with teacher about cutouts and deliver to teacher as needed.
Play Dough Preparation
Make play dough for the classroom on a monthly basis and as requested by teacher.
Check pet supplies on a regular basis and purchase when necessary. Assist with care of pets in the classroom.
Photos Once per month
Upload photos to Costco website from classroom camera, print, pickup, and deliver to the teacher.
Submit expenses for photo costs to the Treasurer for reimbursement.
Make copies for the teacher as needed.
Purchase postage, mail items as requested by the Teacher.
Photography / Scrapbook (one for each class)
Take photos during regular class time and special events.
Upload photos from classroom camera each month to online photo site.
Collect and compile photos for school photo album for the year.
Help arrange for class photos to be taken and assist photographer, if needed.
Once per month, divide up the Scholastic News received with quantities appropriate for each of the three class sizes.
Deliver these divided groups of flyers to the Teacher.
Plan and organize t-shirt sales (including contacting companies, distributing order forms, collecting money), and monthly community service projects.
Take a “thank you” to the church office each month. This can be a baked good, flowers, children’s art, etc.
