Hi! I’m Abbie, and I’m absolutely delighted to be the teacher at Old Town Cooperative Preschool!

After several years volunteering in cooperative preschool classrooms alongside my son, I rediscovered my love of teaching and found a true home in early childhood education. Those experiences deepened my appreciation for the wonder, joy, and growth that happen in the early years, as well as made me appreciate the incredible sense of community and connection that makes the cooperative preschool model so special.

I believe children learn best when they feel safe, respected, and known, all while having fun! I want my classroom to be a place where children can’t wait to walk through the door each morning—a place filled with curiosity, laughter, creativity, and hands-on discovery. Through play-based and Montessori-inspired learning, my hope is that every child feels safe to explore, proud of what they’re learning, and eager to come back tomorrow.

My favorite activities at preschool are art, dramatic play, and playing on the playground. My favorite books to read out loud include the Little Blue Truck series, A House for Hermit Crab, A Horse Called Now, and The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear. (But be warned, if we start talking about children’s literature, I could chat all day long!) And my favorite preschool song? Tooty Ta, of course!”

When I’m not at preschool, I’m usually off on an adventure with my husband and our son. My husband and I are Hoosiers who fell in love with the Pacific Northwest more than a decade ago, and one of our greatest joys is helping our son discover and love it the way we do. Whether we’re camping in our truck’s pop-up tent, taking rainy beach walks, or finding any excuse to visit the ocean, we’re happiest exploring together. At home, you’ll often find us riding bikes, cooking together, or cuddled up watching baseball and Star Wars.

It’s a privilege to be part of these early years! I’m so grateful to share this season with your family. Together, we’ll fill our classroom with kindness, laughter, curiosity, and plenty of joyful little moments that children will carry with them long after the school day ends.
